Christmas Tree At Casa Loma

Well, the weather outside is frightful….but inside, the Christmas décor makes up for it, doesn’t it? Especially at Casa Loma during A Nutcracker Christmas at the Castle! Liberty Entertainment Group, the long-term lease holders of the castle lead by Nick Di Donato, recruited the help of 8 Canadian designers to help transform the castle for the festivities of the holiday season. Designed Dream was one of the 8 designers honoured to be invited by Casa Loma and the Liberty Group to decorate a tree in each of the castle rooms.

Our tree, located in Lady Mary’s bedroom, was inspired by; originality and the quality of standing out while appealing to children and adults alike. People don’t see a flowery Christmas tree often. We also wanted remain consistent with the theme of the room we were working with, Lady Mary’s, which lead us to the floral tree concept. We used soft and airy colours that incorporated a feminine feel while maintaining a unique approach to traditional tree decorating.

The trees will be showcased at the many events held at the castle during ‘A Nutcracker at the Castle’.  To get into the holiday spirit we attended the annual Holiday Stars Gala hosted by the Minstrel Foundation, an organization dedicated to music and arts advancement for young people from our inner city and new immigrant communities. Farah Nasser, of Global TV, emceed the evening including an introduction for Nick Di Donato, President and CEO of Liberty Entertainment, who welcomed the guests and there were performances by the Octava vocal ensemble, scholarship students.
